It seems to me that if a comment relates directly to the previous post, using the comment feature would be the best way to respond. If someone has a new idea or wants to initiate a new topic, a new post would be appropriate. Of course, at some point comments might evolve into a new topic, in which case the conversation might be better handled in a new post.

If someone wants to comment on what someone else has said, what's the best way to do it -- via comments, or via a new post?
